Lately, I've been feeling a little more insecure about my dark circles than usual, so I've been considering adding a new concealer to my collection. When I learned that Estée Lauder added a concealer to its famous Double Wear line, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try something new. In search of a product that would provide more coverage without looking too thick or unnatural, I wondered if the Double Wear Stay-in-Place 24-Hour Concealer would deliver on its promise of medium-to-full coverage, a weightless feel, and non-creasing 24-hour wear. About My Skin: Prominent dark circles

My under-eyes have been an area of insecurity for as long as I can remember. Having inherited dark circles, tear troughs, and puffiness from my parents, minimizing their appearance has been a top priority of mine throughout the years. To prep my under-eye area for any makeup application, I use a moisturizing eye cream morning and night. Right now, I love using the Glow Recipe Guava Vitamin C eye cream. It hydrates the area well, and it's one of few eye creams that have actually made a difference with my dark circles.

For concealer, I used to think that using several shades lighter than my skin tone would make my eyes look brighter overall, but this often had adverse effects. Now, I stick to one to two shades lighter than my natural skin tone, and I'm intentional with placement. My go-to concealer right now is the Kosas Revealer Concealer: Its rich, creamy formula and medium coverage is what I typically look for, and this product pairs well with my minimalist beauty routine.

While my makeup routine is pretty natural day to day, I still haven’t found a concealer that I love using when I need more coverage under my eyes. I was excited to swap my current choice for the Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer to see how its medium-to-full coverage addressed my concerns.

The Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer is a creamy, moisturizing formula with a soft-focus, natural matte finish. This concealer promises to be flexible, weightless, and breathable, instantly blurring pores and skin concerns. The 3D doe-foot applicator is intentionally designed for targeted, multi-use applications, allowing you to create your own look with precision.

Multipurpose and available in 30 shades, the Double Wear concealer can work to conceal, contour, and highlight areas of the face. Promising 24-hour wear and oil control with no caking, creasing, or streaking, the concealer’s non-comedogenic formula is also resistant to water, transfers, sweat, and humidity.

Formulated with InvisiFlex technology, the concealer contains flexible polymers that can move with your facial expressions. Micro-silicone spheres also absorb sebum to comfortably control oil throughout the day.

How to Apply: Conceal, highlight, and contour

Since you can use the Double Wear concealer in a few different ways (conceal, highlight, and contour), the brand has recommendations for each application method.

• To conceal:Estée Lauder recommends using concealer in the same shade as your foundation for a seamless blend. Use the curved side of the brush on any areas that need extra coverage.
• To highlight: The brand encourages using one to two shades lighter than your foundation, applying one to two dots in your desired area before blending well.
• To contour: The brand suggests using one to two shades darker than your foundation for shape and dimension. Use the doe-foot applicator to swipe product across your forehead and under your natural cheekbone for a sculpted look, then blend well.

The Results: Lives up to its promises

For about a week, I tested the Double Wear concealer, paying attention to the texture, how it wore under my eyes and held up during workouts, and if it lived up to its claims of 24-hour wear. Opting for two shades lighter than my skin tone, I paired the Double Wear concealer in 4W with the Double Wear foundation in 4W4 Hazel for a soft matte look.

While the product has a nice, creamy texture, it has a slightly thicker consistency. Since it's quite pigmented as well, a little product goes a long way. The shade I selected worked well with my complexion and illuminated my under-eyes with less than half a pea-sized amount. At the gym, I was impressed at how well the concealer held up without any setting powder: I got through an entire workout without fading, cracking, or splotchiness. The next day, I tested the concealer with setting powder, but ultimately, I realized I didn't need it. With its soft matte finish, the Double Wear concealer does a great job of staying in place and not creasing on its own.

Since my under-eyes are an insecurity of mine, I’m wary of the texture, finish, shade, and coverage of a concealer. When I don’t find the right balance, my dark circles are more visible than I would like, and the puffiness remains accentuated. With the Double Wear concealer, I noticed how important it was for my eye area to be properly hydrated. The product’s soft matte finish is gorgeous, but I could see it easily accentuating dehydration. Skin prep—regardless of a product’s texture and finish—is imperative to have the product perform at its best.

Overall, I was happy with how my eye area looked when I wore the Double Wear concealer. Although this product provides medium-to-full coverage, it didn’t look thick, and the darkness under my eyes was completely hidden. Even after 12 hours of wear, my undereyes looked as if I had freshly applied the product, and I didn’t notice any creasing, patchiness, or fading.

The Final Verdict: An instant favorite

After testing the Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer for about a week, I realized this product exceeded my expectations. With its buildable coverage and creamy texture, I concealed the darkness under my eyes without caking or thickness. I could also exercise and get through long workdays without worrying about it looking patchy or creasing. Feeling completely weightless, the concealer lives up to the brand's promise of an oil-controlling product that's resistant to water, sweat, and humidity. The Double Wear concealer has the moisture, pigment, and longevity I've been looking for in a medium-to-full coverage formula. Without question, it's earned a spot in my permanent rotation.
